US Army Europe Ten-Miler Conquered

The 2008 Ten Miler story has been completed for us. This past weekend we competed in the US Army Europe 10-Miler competition. As most of you know we have been training with the Vicenza team for a little over three months for this event. The time that we spent training was intense and exciting all at the same time. As we sped along the autobahn to Germany for the competition we all reminisced over the grueling early morning runs and how in a few hours all our hard work would be applied. As we talked with our teammates I was reminded of Paul's analogy of life to running a race. Life is as a race to the finish line of eternity. Some of the variables of that race that are similar to those that we experienced are who are we running toward, how are we fueling our run, and are we challenging those beside us to pick up and run along. Though we continue to run the race of life, the ten-miler was completed in little over an hour and we give praise for our success. Our teams came in second and sixth place overall as well as Mel received second place in her division. It has been an incredible and challenging experience. We look forward to the next big run, the Berlin Marathon!
